Pending Judgemen-Homsteed in GA?

Hi

I have a pending credit card judgement of $18,000 which will be granted in the next week or so...I have not worked for several years due to my health..I have no funds to see a lawyer or pay this judgement...I own a 20 year old Mobile home(In poor condition) on 2acres...its paid for...two old trucks 1990..Can they seize my property or just put a lien on it...Is there a homestead exemption in GA.? If they can just put a Lien on it and not force me to sell it Iam ok with that..When Iam gone I wont need it...Otherwise Iam 54 unemployable and on the streets...Scarey Stuff....Thanks for any Info..

You may be in need of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which would be cheaper and easier before the judgment. You would need legal fees and costs to file it. You probably could protect your assets but we'd have to get detailed numbers to answer that. If you are in the Atlanta area and wish to file, go to www.glenashman.com and get our worksheet and complete it (the worksheet includes fee information as well) and then call me at 404-768-3509 once it's complete for a consultation.
