Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Received summons

Received summons from state of Georgia, Cobb County court re: credit vard debt.

Am disabled, on SSDI and SSI, and am unlikely to return to full time work. I am aware that creditors cannot garnish SSDI and SSI, but wish to word my reply appropriately. Do I attach a copy of my social security benefits statement? A copy of the summons?

Re: Received summons

Your idea will not help and may actually harm you. Do not respond before you see a lawyer.

Even though they can't seize social security, they CAN seize your bank account, etc.

If the debt is large, you may benefit from bankruptcy. Other responses may also be appropriate and you should meet with a lawyer to consider those.
