Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

I am receiving phone calls from people saying that I owe money to on line loans. I have researched some loans but I have never signed for a loan except the one which I am paying on now and I am not behind in payments. Who do I contact to get the whole story about these loans they only give me their number? What recourse do I have, everyone I have talked to sounds like they live in India.

Contact the state attorney general. My guesses are that this is a payday lender who is overseas in India. Either someone else took out a loan in your name OR they have reached someonoe with the same name as you by accident.

In my experience, talking to these idiots does no good. You can't understand them and they don't have a valid US address (other than maybe a PO box for the dummies that send them money) so that you can write to them. You can't sue either because they probably don't have a valid US address. My advice would be to ignore their calls but contact the state attorney general's office and they may be able to help.

Whatever you do, DO NOT SEND THESE CRIMINALS ANY MONEY!!!!!!!!! If you don't recall taking out a loan then its not yours. They may threaten to see you in court (HAH!) but to actually sue you they would have to do that in Georgia and get a Georgia licensed attorney. Its not very likely. So don't be afraid or succumb to their threats.

In general you have received a call from a criminal. NEVER talk to a debt collector by phone. Hang up without saying a word and do NOT give them any information at all.

A real debt collector is required by law to mail you a followup. These criminals are based in Nigeria, India and elsewhere and are seeking to steal your money.
