Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Recently had a garnishment start coming out of my check for a hospital bill. I have never been to this hospital in my life. What are my options?

A garnishment happens after you lose a suit. You may be an identity theft victim and need a lawyer in the next couple days to challenge both cases.

I agree with Attorney Ashman. If there is a garnishment, it means that a judgment was entered. The only way to stop the garnishment is to file a traverse and a motion to vacate the judgment. You only have ten days to file a traverse after you first received notice. You are limited as to the grounds you can bring up in a traverse. Whether the judgment can be challenged (it is a separate proceeding and not done in the garnishment) is a different question; there the period is longer - 3 years. When was the judgment entered? If you did not owe the money why did you not challenge the lawsuit?
