I don't know. My gut sense is that debt collector is calling but without more details, I can't assist. If you wish to discuss this privately, I give free email consults. There is a charge of $50.00 for phone consults. Please contact me at [email protected] if interested.

You are asking for a guess, and all you tell us is you got a couple calls "about a lawsuit in reference to" your wife. Was the entire phone call just those words? Did you ask questions? Did they say anything else? If so, your decision to leave out that information means you can't get an answer.

Without more background I'd be guessing although I suspect it's a bill collector.

If it is a concern to you, a consultation with a lawyer may help you know how (and if) to deal with it or respond. My office will do a limited phone consultation for $25 or a limited office consultation for $100. Should you need either, you can email [email protected] and arrange a time.
