Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

I recieved a letter from a law firm in a debt case that contained a "waiver of service of summons". This letter came after the summons was served by the deputy. What is this waiver for and what am I bound to if I sign it?

Thanks

You don't want to sign anything without counsel, and you need counsel since you were already served. 30 days after service, absent an answer or other defense, you go into default.

We don't have it, but from what you say it is a document that allows them to skip the service. If you have already been served, it is probably meaningless. But, again, we don't have the document. You can pay a lawyer, but you'll have to decide whether that money can be better spent paying the debt (in full, or lower amount agreed to in writing).
