what happens when I go to court but cannot pay off the amount owed on that day? what will happen

You might go to jail, depending on the judge. Retain a lawyer before your court date, as you have waited way too loing to deal with this by ignoring the certified letter and other steps that long preceded the court date. At this point you need counsel.
