Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
I was just served a summons to appear in court for a credit card with a balance of about $7500.00. It told me I had 30 days to respond or the Plantiff will win the judgment. Is there a way that I can push the court date back to give me more time to find an attorney?

You can ask the lawyer for the other side for an extension, but 30 days is normally plenty of time to get a lawyer to answer. Keep in mind if the debt is valid, you can end up paying a lawyer and getting a judgment against you for the debt - money that could otherwise be used to pay or settle.
While many things may delay a case, if you actually owe money, spending thousands more to defend a case may not make sense. Before you decide what to do, see a lawyer.
What you should do now (meaning this week) is to consult with a lawyer. Look at all your options, ranging from bankruptcy to a response. (We do that initial consultation for $25, so cost should not be an issue).
