Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Statute of limitations

I co-signed w/someone about 10 years ago and the truck was repossessed. I pais $1000.00 on a credit card then and paid $50.00 a month for years. I have stopped making payments and am being harrassed. Is there a statute of limitations on this? Am I still obligated to pay? I have asked for a record of payments I have made, but have been denied. Can you help me? I would gladly pay them off, but am not financially able. Thank you so much.

Re: Statute of limitations

If your definition of "harassed" is that they are asking for the money you agreed to pay, they can attempt to collect, including filing a lawsuit, indefinitely. Stopping payments generally does not lead to the obligation going away.

You likely can stop the creditor calls. A bit of help from a lawyer may solve the problem. Consider hiring one.
