Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

I am about to be sued for a doctor bill that I am not able to pay off in full. They do not like me paying only $20.00 a month because I am currently unemployed. I have asked them if they could just accept that until I get a job and can pay more. But, they will not cooperate. What can they do to me?

They do not have to "cooperate" with terms that you come up with. They can file a lawsuit, get a judgment, garnish bank accounts and paycheck.

They don't have to work with you. When and if they sue, they can levy on your bank account, future wages, your car and so on.

Now may be an excellent time to see a lawyer about bankruptcy to wipe out the debt. Call me if you are in metro Atlanta.

Do NOT send any money to them unless they have agreed in writing to the payments. You are wasting the $20. Stop throwing that money away.

You can't stop them from suing you. Keep trying to negotiate.
