Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

summons of regular garnishment from my bank

What do I need to do? I received a letter from my bank on 1/30/2008 stating that my funds were being held ($263) because they received a summons of garnishment from Chase Bank for a credit card. I live in Georgia.

Re: summons of regular garnishment from my bank

The garnishment means you previously lost a lawsuit. Since you have already lost the suit there are usually only two options (and bear in mind the lender will continue to collect until paid in full). Pay off the full judgment, or see a lawyer to see if you can file bankruptcy. If you are considering the second option and are in or near metro Atlanta, feel free to contact me to discuss your possible eligibility for this relief.
