Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Today I found out that my bank account has been levied by a creditor. I am currently on unemloyment. So, in return, I changed my direct deposit information for my unemployment to my boyfriends bank account, which does not have my name on it. My question is will the creditor eventually discover where my money is going and levy his account as well?

You may create legal problems for him with that manuever, which could be deemed a transaction to defraud a creditor. It may work, but you might want to look into more permanent things like bankruptcy.

They probably won't discover it, but if they do, not only can they get your money, but both you and he may be guilty of fraud. Your better off opening up a new account at a different bank.

Instead of opening up another account, can you have a hard check sent to you. Thereafter, you can cash the check at the bank where the check is drawn. You my pay a fee for it, but you don't have to worry about liens or fraud. Once you have the cash, you can pay your bills with money orders. Of course, if you live in a bad neighborhood or are afraid of robbery, you may not want to compromise your safety.
