Wage Garnishment

I recently had a judgement filed against me. I didn't know I had to appear in court. Now, they have filed to garnish my wages. The statute of limitations is up on the debt, and I barely survive off my wages now. Can I be exempt from being garnished, and what options do I have besided bankruptcy?

A garnishment means you already lost a suit. Even if the statute of limitations once applied, you lost that point in not going to court and cannot raise it now. There are no low-income exceptions to garnishment. A bankruptcy is the only thing that would stop a valid garnishment.
