Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
My 17 year old niece (I am her legal guardian) was caught shoplifting at a department store yesterday afternoon. The items she stole added up to $273. She was taken to jail, fingerprinted, etc. I posted a 1200 bond so she wouldn't have to spend the night. We live in GA. What consequences should we be expecting once come court time? Though she is 17, the police say she will NOT be in juvenile court, but instead the "big girl court." What does this mean?
