Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I was accused of theft by taking. This is my first time ever being in trouble. What is the penalty for this? The amount was 1200.00.

The maximum sentence is ten years. It's a felony, although a judge has discretion to sentence you as a misdemeanor. You need a lawyer. That may minimize jail time or possibly even come up with ways to keep this off your record. Don't wait - as this charge not only could get you fines and jail, but it could make you unemployable if you end up with a record.
