Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Aggravated assault lawsuit
Two of my friends were in a fight about 2 years ago and one was hospitalized to the extent of about 100,000 dollars in doctor bills. After 2 years of litigation no settlement has been made, and the victim is now suing the defendant for $500,000 and his father for $150,000. My family and I were recently added to the lawsuit being subpoenaed for no particular dollar amount. Being the homeowner of the residence where this incident occurred, how much liability do my family and I have if the defendant cannot cover the full amount of the settlement declared by a judge?

Re: Aggravated assault lawsuit
If you have been subpoenaed, it means you have been called to testify as a witness by the party that subpoenaed you. You will not be held monetarily liable for any damages unless you are added as a party to the lawsuit.
