Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
air forces
My 18-year old son was recently arrested for shoplifting. His court date has not come up yet. He now wants to join the Air Force, which I think would be excellent for him, as he is going in a terrible direction. His court date has not come up yet, and he was let out of jail on his own recognizance. The Air Force will not take him until the legal issues are cleared up. Is there anything that he can do to expedite this? This was his first arrest as an adult, but he had one other as a juvenile (17). Who should he talk to, and what are the chances of him getting this taken care of quickly so that I can get him into the Air Force before he changes his mind?

Re: air forces
If this is his first offense and it is misdemeanor shoplifting, he should be able to go through a diversion program and have the charges dismissed and expunged from his record. An attorney should be able to speed up the process for you.
