Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Arrest 1st time in my life on a simple battery charge (age 42). I am going to plead guilty. Do I need an attorney? If so, can I get a court appointed attorney?

Nothing could be more foolish and dangerous than going to court and pleading guilty to a crime without a lawyer. You could serve up to a year in jail, be fined $1000 plus costs, and carry a criminal record (possibly ruing employment chances) for life.
Get a lawyer. I cannot stress how important this is. You need counsel. If your income is very small you may qualify for appointed counsel.
