Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I was arrested on July 6, 2007. My charges from the jail system were F S16-13-31--DRUG TRAFFIC IN COCAINE/MARIJUANA/ILLEGAL DRUGS -/FEL/- and the disposition was to BIND OVER TO SUPERIOR COURT. My charges from the court system were F 16-13-31--DRUG TRAFFIC-ILLEGAL DRUGS on July 10, 2007. My bail was posted on July 28, 2007. Since then I have not heard anything about my case and have not been to court yet. When I look up my case on the Online Judicial System it says that my case is still open and under investigation. My question is...is their a statute of limitation for my case? It has already been 3 years and the other parties that were involved were deported.

Under the US and GA constitutional right to a speedy trial, you may have some leverage - you need to talk to an attorney ASAP as the State can jerk you around for as long as you take it!!!
