Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I was arrested in October of 2008 in Georgia for 2 felony drug offenses. I was then took to a bond hearing and was denied bond as I was already on probation. Then about a week later 3 drug agents came and told me if I worked with them then they could get me released on bond. I agreed and was released a few days later. As soon as I was released I went and talked to a public defender. The public defender then called the drug agents and told them she wanted a written contract stating what was required of me and what I was to expect for my cooperation. The agent she spoke to said he would talk to his boss and get back to her. My lawyer then told me not to talk to them until she heard from them, but about a week later the three agents came to my home and told me I had to try and help them or they were going to revoke my bond. I tried to help them but failed in my attempt. This made them mad and they told me the deal was off and they'd be back to arrest me. The next day I tried to call my lawyer and the receptionist told me she no longer worked there and gave me a new lawyer's name that was assigned to me. I've made several attempts to contact him until I just give up. It has now been almost 20months and I have heard nothing or received any letters to appear in court. What should I do? Is this normal? Have I been Indicted? Is there a time limit to how long they can hold this over my head? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Go TO the lawyers office. If you don't receive an answer there, tell them you are headed to the state bar to file an ethics complaint against your former and current lawyer and do that. I suspect they will get interested in responding to you.
