Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

Help me get back home to the U.S after 13 years

Hello Sir, Miss

I am a U.S. citizen that was arrested in 1993 for a felony posession of marijuana. Served 3 months in muscogee county jail and was released on 3 years probation. Due to serious personal reasons I left the U.S. for Europe in the winter of 1994 without completing my probation and have been living here for 13 years now without encountering any law problems. My question is: If I return to the U.S.(say New York) will I be running a high risk of getting arrested when I pass through airport customs? Would I have a problem renewing my passport at an american embassy somewhere in Europe?

Any help would be greatly appriciated(just want to go back home after all these years)

Thank you for your time.

Chances are that there is an outstanding warrant for your arrest for violation of probation, and that it has been outstanding since 1994. Inquiries can be made to determine the status of the warrant prior to your entrance into the country. If a warrant is outstanding, you will probably be arrested upon your re-entry into the United States, given current security measures in place at the major international airports.

After your arrest, you would be extradited back to Muscogee County where a judge will determine how much of your probation to revoke. The judge may suspend the remainder of your probation, or he or she may revoke the balance and you would serve 3.5 years. There are many factors that go into all this; actually too many to exhaustively list here. Please feel free to contact me to discuss the matter further. I have experience dealing with criminal matters in Muscogee County. 4045422261 (w)
