Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

bad checks

i have wrote alot of checks to diffent business in town and had done so in good faith, however they are being returned. my error. i do not want to go to jail and have all intentions of paying them but i am unempolyed at this time.what can i do to avoid jail short of paying the full amount at once that is not possible. papers have been filed and have 10 days. please can you help.

It is not always necessary that jail time will follow a bad check, or even a series of bad checks. Your comment that the checks were written in good faith, suggests there is a reasonable explanation for why the funds are not in your account to cover them.

Much will depend on your prior record, but assuming the above, you case is not impossible, but you should have an attorney and it will cost you some money, but will be well worth the effort in all probability.
