Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

my bf hit me and i had him arrested today. i have called the police on him times before this and always dropped the charges but this time i couldnt and the state of GA picked it up because he hit me in front of children and our daughter. He has a previous charge with his ex wife where he hit her years ago, and I was wondering how much if possible how much jail time with he get if any? What's going to happen?

What is going to happen is one thing (and hopefully that is jail for a long time), but what absolutely needs to happen is that you need to say to yourself, right now, that you are through with him completely, and you do whatever it takes to keep him away from you and your children. If you won't stay away from someone who apparently has a long history of violence against women, at least do it for the children. If you have doubts (and you certainly should not), go down to a women's shelter and ask the women how many chances they gave their husband/boyfriend. Ask the police and prosecutor about the "men" (using that term very loosely) who killed their spouse or girlfriend after being given just one more chance. Call friends, a church, or a shelter the day you read this message.
