Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I bought a car when I lived in California and didn't have the title switched over in my name because I was moving back to Georgia and wanted to wait till I got back here to do it....my name was printed on the back of the title.....but when I got back to GA my car was stolen....it was recovered the same night but when the officers ran my info the car came back with no insurance since it was still registered in California....to keep it from being impounded a so called friend that was with me called his insurance company and added it to his policy....he told me he would need something to show to the insurance company and asked for a bill of sale infront of the officers and the officers agreed....so I wrote one just to keep my car from being impounded....the title to my car and the bill of sale that I wrote were in my purse and when I went to take a shower this so called friend went into my purse and took both of them out and left....I tried everyday to get it back from him but he always had some excuse.....then a few days later he brought the police and picked up my car from me....there was no dollar amount on the bill of sale and I didn't sign my title....I didn't sell him my car....or give it to him.....I have written statements from witnesses that were there when all of this occurred but when I went to the police they said it was a civil matter.....isn't this theft by deception??? And the night he came with the police and picked it up he said he wasn't going to keep it....I also have witnesses that he told he was going to give the car back then never did.....I just found it on Craigslist for sale....

You conspired to commit multiple crimes and to cover them up for which you can go to prison - false statement to police, insurance fraud, conspiracy, driving withoit insurance, failing to register the vehicle, etc. And now you want to get your conspirator in trouble? Sure you can complain, and then both of you probably land in prison.
