my case
what is the sentence for theft by taking? and if the money is paid back, can charges be dropped?

"Any person violating this article shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one year nor more than ten years, by a fine not to exceed $5,000.00, or both."
It's possible that they will drop it if you pay it back, but you need to negotiate that before paying the restitution.
