Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I was caught shoplifting back when I was 17 (June 2005) in Georgia. I pled NOLO, paid a fine and that was it. No prbation or community service. I have 2 different jobs since then, one with the state and 1 at a department store, they have both done background checks and nothing showed up on them. The jobs were 2 years apart. Then all of a sudden I'm looking for other jobs but couldnt get hired bc I have something on my record. How can that b if it wasn't on there 2.5 years ago? I will b 23 this year and the charge will b 6 years old. How long before it doesn't show up anymore? Am I still going to have problems finding a job because of this and what can i do to get it off?

It will stay there forever.
The first two places probably did credit bureau checks but not actual criminal checks.
