I got caught stealing a phone from school but the students parents didn't press charges. Why is my school sending me to court? Can they?

Court for what? Of course they can. If you stole something it is up to the legal authorities to charge or not charge. Contrary to what you see on TV, it is not up to the victim to "press charges." Here is another lesson -- you just admitted to the world that you are guilty and it is possible law enforcement sees your post or inspects your phone or computer to see this post. Discuss with your parents NOW.

Because you are a thief. The victim doesn't have to call you a thief, in order for the school to see you for what you are and call you a thief. Simple. Good luck.
