Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

I've been charged of check fraud in GA, but I've never been to Georgia--I live in NC. They somehow have a copy of my license. I've tried to call the police station multiple times to get more details (e.g. total dollar amount of check(s), specific dates and time incident occurred). The last time I called, they said they didn't have any more details and I needed to come and surrender myself. Are they legally obligated to tell me the details of my charge? I plan to seek legal counsel ASAP, but I would like to get all the details of my supposed crime before I call an attorney. Please help!

You leave out a few details in your post. You know what checks have bounced, and where you sent them. Get a lawyer first, rather than try to take the role of a lawyer before you hire one (which makes no sense).

Do not speak to them again without counsel present.

No matter what you say IT CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU!!

Good luck
