Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I was charged with a felony drug posession in Oregon while on vacation. I had the probation switched to my then resident state of Hawaii, where my husband was stationed in the military.
I repeatedly called my probation officer for a check in, drug test and community service papers. I did not receive a single return phone call. My husband claimed he talked to her, but when I researched the name he gave me she did not exist. I repeatedly called and emailed the probation office and arresting officer in Oregon, leaving messages regarding my situation, and received no response.
I had to leave the island due to a very physically and emotionally abusive husband. I fled to Georgia to live with a friend's family, because I had no money and no where to go.
Before I left, I spent a month trying to get in contact with the probation office. I was extremely worried that if they denied my probation I would be forced to stay on the Island, where I knew my husband would never let me be.
I have now been in Georgia for 6 months. Been clean since the incident over a year ago, and I have had a job. I am back in college, have my own place and need to deal with this problem.
