If the minor is at least 17:

If convicted or if a plea is entered, they can be fined up to $1000 plus surcharges and can serve up to a year in jail.

They will lose their driver's license, will be inelible for most federal financial aid and loans for college, won't get HOPE, will have a hard time getting a job ever, and probably can't get into the military or live in public housing.

The person badly needs a lawyer to attempt to avoid these things.

a minor is someone under the age of 17. A misdemeanor first offense for marijuana will result in probation in Juvenile Court. 17 and over, the defendant will probably be offerred probation. There are a number of other considerations before you enter a plea to the misdemeanor, like your license suspension. See website: www.lawrencelewispc.com
