Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

To Whom It May Concern:

(Criminal/Probate Law)

My 23 yr. old son was convicted in 2006, theft by receiving - dropped to misdemeanor. In 2008, shoplifting from Walmart back in 2008. While in jail he tampered w/a sprinkler system which was a felony-destruction of Federal property. It was dropped from felony to misdemeanor as well. He was in Jail for the Walmart incident from July 2008 to December 2008 then out on probation.

While on probation, he had a random drug screening and marijuana was found in his system so he had to show up every two (2) weeks to the Probation Office for screening. There were times he would call the day of to tell them he could not make it because of transportation (the distance where he lived to Probation office no buses run that way). So the Probation officer revoked his probation and he had to show up in court April 22, 2009. Because he found a job and was starting that same day (evenings - April), and we as parents made a payment of $400 on his probation fines, he was released. The job he started that day did not give him much hours so instead of putting payment towards his fines, he was taking care of his 2 month old daughter (at that time) off of $60 to $100 dollars every two weeks and sometimes less than that. We tried telling him that the judge said he had to follow the rules and pay fines and visit Probation office when scheduled not on his time. He had a remaining balance of $307 to pay. Because he did not have the money, my husband and I paid the fine. We called and told them that we will be bringing it up there. We were told that we could not and then when my husband attempted to go and got there, he was told by my son's Probationer Officer that our son were suppose to have the money the day before. My husband explained that we were on the phone the day before w/someone from her office (conference call) that day we were told that we could not bring it up. It was then replied "no one from my office told you that." So in other words we are liars when we both heard it because I had the Probation office and my husband on a conference line. However, they still took the money which our son is now at a $0 balance but he did not finish his drug class and kept missing them and did not have monies to pay, the Probation Officer revoked his probation and put a warrant out on him. We tried talking to my son to turn himself in but he want to find a job to provide for his daughter. Well, the state was going to hire him to start October 1st, 2009 but during the background check, the warrant showed up so he could not get the job. Sorry for the lengthy message but I had to explain everything before I asked the question. The question is two (2) part.

(1) What should our son do to clear the warrant so he can get a descent paying job? and

(2) How can he clear his background w/all the lengthy information then after the lengthy info it says "dropped to misdemeanor." Can the lengthy info be lessen before anyone can see the phrase "dropped to misdemeanor?

It was agreed to misdemeanor charge because of our son's desire to go into the Army?

Yours truly,

Desperate Mom

Teresa

I did not need to read your post and all the detail to know your son needs a lawyer (like anyone charged with crimes).
