In a criminal case that you have been found guilty by a jury,what is the purpose of filing an appeal?

The purpose of filing an appeal is to try and undo the conviction, by arguing that something was not done right during the trial. If client is not in custody, the appeal is normally meant to get the conviction of the person criminal history.
