Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
criminal tresspass
I would like to know the definition of criminal tresspass in the state of Georgia. My 16 year old and another boy hit some mailboxes with a bat. He has been charged with criminal tresspass and placed on house arrest with electronic monitoring until his court date. He has not been in any other trouble. This seems rather severe and I need to know if I should take an attorney with us to court. The court clerk says that we don't need one.
Thanks.

Re: criminal tresspass
I would take an attorney. Hitting mail boxes is viwed by many judges as a serious offense and it could be a federal crime. Has the son made resititution. any attorney will tell you to pay for the mailboxes. attorney can also advise on first offender sentencing.
