Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

I am in the current and on-going process of relocating on a job transfer. I left with some items in mid-September and planned to come back for the rest. coming back, I discovered that the person I rent from entered my residence and stole a couple-thousand valuable items before I could get back there to remove them myself. One month prior to my decision to leave, the landlord was unresponsive and would not show up to collect rent, actions that contributed to my ultimate decision to leave. I was also taken to court (by him) and lost by default (fta) as I had no idea I was being taken. Effective service was never rendered as I was not physically there to receive notice. In the end, I have wound up being robbed and sued by the same person. The items in question are distinctive and very valuable, and the only people with access to the unit were him and myself. Can I recover/recover damages for the items?

If what you say is true and the landlord burglarized your residence and stole your belongings, obviously you immediately called the police, made a complaint, had him arrested, and he's in jail.

If what instead happened is that you left, he filed a dispossessory, which is served by tacking it on your door, and you ignored it and your stuff was then dumped on the street and taken, that's your fault.

Since you hinted at both and left out enough detail to tell us what actually happened, there is no way to answer you.
