Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

Diversion

My daughter entered a plea of not guilty on a shoplifting charge. Her attorney met with the judge, and informed her to stay out of trouble for six months, pay court costs and the charges would be dismissed.

If this is considered a form of informal diversion, if so how does it affect her criminal record?

This seems like the same question revised to include some comment relative to my earlier response. There is no "informal diversion" per se, rather it is what I call the informal handling of your daughter's case, based on the sketchy information you provided the first time.

It is still my recommendation to have her call her attorney and ask him the question.

If, what I believe happened, in fact took place, she will have no record. Because I can't be sure from what you have told me, please have her call her attorney.
