Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

expunging my record

Six years ago (this July) Me and two freshly turned 18 yr old friends were charged with possession of marijuana(less than a gram!!!) and possession of alcohol by a minor. My dilemma is that I work a high risk job (Gold Broker) carrying 10 to 15 thousand dollars in cash and close to the same value in Gold. I really need to obtain a concealed carry permit but have been notified that I may not due to the drug charge. I find this upsetting due to it being a non-violent misdemeanor. I cant even open carry in this state without a C.C.P. Is there ANYTHING I can do to remove the single drug charge off my record. I find it highly unacceptable that I cannot defend myself due to a roach I was ticketed for 6 yrs ago. Please enlighten me. Thank you so much.

Re: expunging my record

You can not expunge a charge that you were convicted of or plead guilty to. Sorry. You can still own a gun and have it in your vehicle under certain rules and guidelines. Contact your local PD or GSP office to obtain a copy of those rules.
