That said you may want to consider facing the bully down. The power he has over you with the threat of prosecution is his awareness that you fear the possible consequence. If you mean it when you tell him to leave you alone and that you don't care if he decides to refer this to the authorities, he will know you are prepared to deal with the consequences, should he decide to do so. That takes his power away.

Without telling your former boyfriend, you may want to ask your attorney to contact the magistrate court in the county in which you signed your boyfriend's name to his check and make them aware that if a warrant is sought, you want a pre-arrest hearing. (Now many magistrates are requiring such a procedure in almost every case anyway.) This will give you the opportunity to appear and make your case for the reasons surrounding your action and what has taken place since then, including your making right the restitution already. I would be very surprised if the court issued a warrant under these circumstances.
