Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I gave a mechanic $800 to find an engine for my vehicle. He told me that it would cost an additional $650 to install. I went to pick up my vehicle and the charges are $2044. We do not have a contract. We never discussed any other amount other than $650. I did not sign a contract for the repairs that cost $2044. The mechanic will give me my car back. What legal action can I take to get my car?

None. You get to pay him $2044.
You NEVER EVER give a mechanic an oral repair order as they can charge whatever they please. If you agree on a price, you MUST get that in writing.
If you don't pay the $2044 he can sue you and/or sell your car.
