Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Need help with the georgia state patrol office
I have a problem in nov of 1996 I was arrested in Clayton County for dui, poss narcotics opiates, viol motor veh law, and cpwl & concealed weapon. All these charges happened at the same time. My question is can the dept of motor vehicle safety suspend my driving privagles for 5 years on my first dui then make me pay to reinstate just to suspend them again for another 5 years on the poss narcotics opiates even tho its the same case. I have not been able to drive legaly for atleast 10 years. I have been in and out of prison since 1996. Im tring to do things different this time. I live in the country now so I need to drive so I can work. If anyone can help me I would be greatful. I dont have any money at this time but I would be willing to make payments for someone who could help me. I would have to get a job first. Can anyone help.

There may be a double jeopardy situation here that would prevent your prosecution for the narcotics possession. I cannot say for sure without having all the materials in your case. I am not in a position to take Pro Bono cases at this time, but I am happy to answer the occasional question. If you are serious about turning your life around, there is an entity that can help you in many regards. Please call the Georgia Justice Project; www.gjp.org. (404) 827-0027. If they cannot help you themselves, they can refer you to someone who can if they are able. Good luck.
