Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

Grand Auto Theft (Rental Car)

My son rented a car in GA and he lives in FL. He took the car back to FL and the car rental co issued a warrant because he did not return the car when he was supposed to. Now I am being told because there is a warrant in GA he will have to be brought back here to GA. This is his first time being arrested. Will the charges remain in FL or will be be brought back here to GA? He has NEVER been in trouble before.

Re: Grand Auto Theft (Rental Car)

If a warrant has been issued in Georgia, your son can be picked up in Florida and held pending the State of Georgia sending down a marshal to bring him back up. It is unlikely Georgia will send someone down to pick him up. However, the warrant will not just go away. Your son will need to travel back to Georgia and surrender. He should be represented by an attorney. We have associates that are former district attorneys and can handle this sort of case. Feel free to give us a call at 4045299081.
