Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

Harassment

There is a guy who continues to either call me, text message me, or leaves me voice mail with treats and constant harassment about the posiblility that me and his ex girl friend have had a relationship. Messages such as kicking my A**, calling me every name in the book etc. I try not to respond as in hoping he would just stop. It does not stop. Is there something I can do to stop this. The voice mail drops off after 2 days so if I go to the police I have to let him send more. The text messages stay as long as I want them to. What do I do.

Re: Harassment

You need to note each incident immediately. Write down the date, time, and a description of what happened or what the person said. If you know what number he called you from, write it down. Try to figure out a way to save the voice messages.

At any time, you can go to magistrate court in the county where the person lives, ask to apply for a warrant, and fill out a warrant application describing the ways this person has harrassed you. A court date will then be set for you to tell your story to a judge. The other person will be notified to be there as well, so that he has a chance to defend himself.

Based on what you have written and according to the law, it appears as though this person is stalking you, which is a crime.
