You don't have a criminal issue so you posted in the wrong category. If you feel he did not comply with a contract and owes you money, you can sue in small claims.

You have done everything wrong. You NEVER EVER hire a contractor and pay them in full before completion. In fact, most reputable contractors will not charge youuntil completion. All you can do now is sue to see if you may get some money back.

This is not lawguru, not the vent. I would love to know the rest of the story. How did you select him? What made you go with him? Was he the cheapest? Less learned! The goal in everyone's life should be surround themselves with certain people who know what they are doing, pay them for their advice and follow their advice: a doctor, an attorney, a mechanic, and a contractor.
