Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I was involved in what began as a civil matter in 2008. A police report was filed by the other party in 2009, I was processed for booking a few months later in June. I had entered into a pretrial diversion program, but was only able to pay back 1/2 before the market tanked. I then was arraigned for the same charge (1 count Theft by Taking) in April 2011 and plead Not Guilty. My attorney and I did not hear anything else about the case until today when he was sent a Criminal Trial Calendar to appear June 16th. My case is #18 on a docket of 34 cases for a 1 day calendar. All of this seems absurd and crazy. Is this normal?

All perfectly normal. You stole. You were unable to pay back. Now you will be prosecuted and face prison. See website for info on retaining the right attorney: http://www.lawrencelewispc.com/pages.php?go=pinfo&PID=38
Good luck
All that sounds totally normal. You were given a chance to settle a case by paying money rather than by prison, and made the wrong choice. Discuss your trial with your lawyer.
