How long do u have to report a crime the crime of simple battery

There are statute of limitations for felonies and misdemeanors. Simple Battery is a misdemeanor so that would be two years. If for some reason the facts you rely constitute a felony, then you would have four years to file charges. The longer you wait, then the less likely the charges will be successful. You can either file a police report or go to Magistrate Court and file for a criminal warrant yourself. The Magistrate Court will set up a hearing and notify the party you are charging to come and explain his/her side before he issues a warrant.

You have as long as you want to report it. The police are nto takign you serious after about two weeks.
