You should contact the police immediately (and should have called within minutes) and they will decide what initial charges to pursue, or make a report to the prosecutors or solicitors. The whole story counts. Waiting, even for a day, makes a difference. Often...nothing comes of these incidents, especially if it was not important enough to call the police immediately and waiting until thinking about it and posting on the internet (if that is what happened). At that point, where is the evidence and where are the independent witnesses?
