Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
If you are not married and there is a case of family violence..my bf was charged with simple battery and agravated assult but the case wasnt how the police assumed it was. but he is in jail and waiting for bond money to get out. my question is this i do not want to testify against him or press any charges. i want to help him. i was toldif he and i were married the charges would be harder to stick and it would be more likely they would be dismissed if him and i were married/ now his bond says he is not allowed near me but could we get married? and then i would not have to testify at trail? and we planned onmarrying anyway.

You do not have to "press charges" for him to be convicted. Further, and more importantly, you are not helping him (or yourself) by trying to avoid charges and responsibility for what he has done. Getting married because of this is the worst idea possible. Visit a womens shelter and see how many of them had the same story - they wanted to "help" and not press charges, the police had it all wrong, etc. The exact same story. You need to protect yourself and get out and get help, not make it worse.
