Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
meth charge teen challenge program
My son was arrested after a fight with his live in girlfried. He had less than a gram of meth in his pocket. He was drunk and broke her car windshield and door. He was charged with possession but when we got his criminal background check we saw that the charge had been increased to distribution/sell or manufacture of meth. He is entering a program called Teen Challenge. It is a 1 yr (or longer)program. What are the possiblities of postponing court until after the completion of the program and would it be possible to get the charges reduced? He thought that the charge was increased because they lived less than 2 miles from a school.

Re: meth charge teen challenge program
That would be up to the judge and prosecutor assigned to the case. I would advise hiring local counsel to act on your sons behalf.
