Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Im a minor.. I got arrested for possession of marijuana and they confiscated my 200$ vape. Is it illegal for me to possess that and can I get it back?
1 Answer from Attorneys
First of all you need a lawyer. A conviction for marijuana is a HUGE problem. You may be almost unemployable for life, can never get federal student aid for college, can never live in public housing and can never go in the military. You can be fined up to $1000 and get a year in jail, and even if you get probation that's expensive. You can also lose your driver's license. And no, you're not getting the vape back - if found near the marijuana, it will be confiscated and destroyed as drug paraphenalia. An attorney may be able to get you pretrial diversion or other help. Stop worrying about the $200 item. That is not your big problem right now.
