Minor threatened to rape my minor daughter via text. Was criminal law broken?

Turn your computer off now and call 911. You should already have contacted the police and should treat this as a serious emergency. Preserve the text message. This likely, although it depends on the wording, is a crime (terroristic threats, assault, etc). And obviously you need the police involved so your child stays safe.
