Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Misdemeanor records state to state
I was convicted of a misdemeanor in Alabama a few years ago and am wondering if it will show up on a background check in the State of Georgia. I live in Georgia and am looking for a job and need to know if I should put down this offense on my applications. I want to be honest and have put it down on applications so far but am scared it is keeping me from getting a job.

Re: Misdemeanor records state to state
It depends on what type of records check they run. If the run only a GCIC then it will most likely not show up (Georgia criminal history). If they run a NCIC then it will. (national). You can go to your local police department and pay to have your own GCIC run if you would like to know. As far as the job, there is no way to know which they run unless it is government related and then most assuredly a NCIC.
